The EBA Distinguished Service Award

Each year, at the annual Judges Dinner, the EBA honours a distinguished member of Edmonton's legal community for his or her outstanding contributions to our profession

The recipient is chosen by a selection committee, comprised of senior members of the Edmonton bar, who review nominations received from members of Edmonton's legal community.

The Eileen Nash Memorial Award

The Eileen Nash Memorial Award is not being awarded in 2009.

In memory and celebration of the life of the Honourable Madam Justice Eileen Nash, a fund known as the Eileen Nash Memorial Fund has been set up with the Edmonton Community Foundation.  The purpose of this fund is to recognize the efforts of individuals providing services on a pro bono basis so as to benefit our community by providing support for those charities and charitable causes that will enhance the quality of living for under-privileged people in the Edmonton area.

The Board of Directors of the Edmonton Bar Association is very pleased to have been chosen as the body which will select, each year, one or more recipients of the Eileen Nash Memorial Award.  Each year's recipient(s) shall be entitled to provide advice and recommendation to the Edmonton Community Foundation Board regard the disbursement of income from the Eileen Nash Memorial Fund to a charity or charitable cause in the Edmonton area.  Further, each award recipient will be honoured at the EBA's annual Judges' Dinner.

The EBA's Board of Directors then review the nominations with a view to selecting the nominee or nominees who have made a substantial dedication of their time and talents on a pro-bono baiss to under-privileged person or to causes supporting under-privileged persons in the Edmonton area who would not likely otherwise have received the benefit of such services.
